Time To Say Hi

TIME TO SAY HI – PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION OF VENUS WU
Enjoy walking along the street and
eyeing the wonders of our surroundings.
Today, I met you here.
Tomorrow, I met him there.
We met but never talk to each other.
We met and soon be apart.
He looks at me as if we know each other well.
A stranger with a familiar face.
No matter you, he or anyone else,
we have no time to say hello and are always too late to say goodbye.
Perhaps, it is life how we meet to depart and depart to meet again.
“This is somewhere I have been to?”, “I might have known these people”, “the scenes that I always dream of”, “these are the moments I miss”…. We may share such a similar feeling when we are walking along the street. A camera, photography, and the photographer’s eye are our representative in watching out the fast pace of life in the cities. Through the shutter, the real time, space and its associated sentiment and imagination are being recorded. All the coincidences happen without a specific pose and a defaulted environment, but only the general atmosphere of a particular place explains the nature of street photography. The photographer’s mind works closely with his shutter in catching the soul of the spot, and that the glorious images form the memories of eternity.
“Time to Say Hi” is the first photography exhibition of our PubArt Gallery as well as the first solo exhibition of our official photographer, Venus WU. In the exhibition, you will see how Venus uses his favorite camera capturing the simple interesting things and people around us. "One sees clearly only with the heart”*. Photos tell us the stories and also one’s life. As long as we see the world with your heart, you shall see the most beautiful things that never are too late to say hello.

ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER
Venus WU, was born in Hong Kong in the late 1970s. He is classified as a typical “city loser” with no car, property, distinct academy, nor ambitious minds. To look for the meaning of life, he is determined to leave his 10-year’s job five years ago and joined a volunteering program in India. Till now, he cannot tell the real meaning of life, but certainly he is looking for it through the lens.
