《故事由來:藝術家、作家及期刊在亞洲》研討會

是次研討會由亞洲藝術文獻庫和香港大學合辦,探討在20世紀出版的期刊如何推動亞洲區內關於藝術及新銳視覺媒介的討論。

期刊將文字、圖像及印刷技術結合,並引進美學概念、觀賞模式和發佈網絡,完美示範如何把多個範疇共冶一爐,讓它們互擦火花。在亞洲,印刷媒體將藝術的爭辯、論述、研究、及視覺元素傳遞至更廣大的讀者網絡。「現代主義始於雜誌的普及」── 拿這句諺語來描述這個地區的脈絡正是最好不過。

期刊不僅是藝術實驗和展示的場域,更直接影響創作的變革和演繹。由此可見,期刊在建構多元藝術社群上功不可沒。

研討會講者包括荷蘭凡艾伯當代美術館館長Charles Esche、北京藝術批評家及策展人栗憲庭、新加坡國家美術館策展人Phoebe Scott、馬尼拉Green Papaya Art Projects 項目總監Mervin Espina、國立臺南藝術大學藝術史學系暨研究所助理教授蔣伯欣 、韓國國立藝術大學藝術理論系教授Insoo Cho等。

It Begins with a Story: A Symposium on Periodicals in Asia

Organised by Asia Art Archive in collaboration with The University of Hong Kong, the symposium explores how periodicals have fostered conversations around art and emergent forms of visuality in twentieth-century Asia.

Periodicals have been more than just platforms or sites for artistic experimentation and exhibition; they have themselves shaped and staged them. In so doing, periodicals have played a defining role in forming diverse publics for art in Asia.

Keynote speakers are Charles Esche, Director of Van Abbemuseum, and Li Xianting, Beijing-based Independent Critic and Curator.

Panelists include Phoebe Scott, Curator, National Gallery Singapore; Mervin Espina, Program Director, Green Papaya Art Projects, Manila; Chiang Poshin, Associate Professor, Department of Art History, Tainan National University of the Arts; Insoo Cho, Professor, Art Theory Department, School of Visual Arts, Korea National University of Arts, and more.
