After the big success of “Ink Global 2017”, Wan Fung Art Gallery is going to hold a series of Selected Ink Artists Invitational Exhibition from Oct 2017 to Oct 2018 at Wan Fung Art Gallery Headquarter in To Kwa Wan. Comprising of a series of ink masterpieces from several elite artists, these shows are aiming to introducing both the masters and the new artists and bringing the beauty and excellence of Chinese ink painting into the world.
Wan Fung Art Gallery is proud to present Selected Ink Artists Invitational Exhibition (4th Term) from 13th April to 28th April, 2018. This exhibition presents brilliant artworks of seven outstanding artists including Wang Changkai, Liu Maoshan,Sun Jianlin,Wu Jia Fu,Kassia Ko,Huang Qun and He Ermin. The opening reception will start at 3pm, 13th April, 2018.
Wang Changkai’s works are refreshingly lively and lucid. Not only do they bring the vividness of hues and the three dimensional visual impact of oil paintings into full play, but also incorporate the highly-effective manipulation of brushstrokes, as well as the irrevocable nature of Chinese painting into it. All of these are a brand new technique of Chinese oil painting, which is distinctively different from that of the West. He created a new genre of Chinese art.
Liu Maoshan’s works are characterized by a distinctive, colorful and poetic style. His landscape paintings are full of scenery in southern China which are unique and fresh. He has also incorporated the western method of processing light and colour to enhance the modern sense of his works. The strokes and layouts in most of his works are very traditional. He is best at using different contrast, rendering and rhythm to create a fine characterisation of the nature.
Sun Jianlin’s works are highly chromatic with a strong sense of ethnicity. The volatile lines develop a complex and saturated multi-dimension, forming an intriguing masterpiece. The level of difficulty of his works is incomparable in current Chinese painting world, showcasing his seasoned techniques and mastery. His works are highly acclaimed across the globe, and is said to be the most skillful neo-Chinese painter.
Wu Jia Fu is skilled at ink and color, flower-and-bird, scenery and figure paintings. His works are highly decorative and artistic. His painting, which combines both traditional Chinese technique and western techniques, has brought about a series of heavy color drawing styles. He is good at painting Buddhist subjects and animals like small chickens.
Kassia Ko is a full-time artist based in Hong Kong. Her mindscape series, - Imprint Series - introduces meticulous techniques to conjure the brightest light and reflection, serving as an analogue time lapse, capturing the passage of time in a modern digital era. In addition with simple color, Minimal Art, forming a poetic calmness and an airy expression of the locale.
Huang Qun's murals focus on using live points, lines and planes to create spacious visual arts. He explores the combination of Chinese and Western painting elements of integrating traditional decorative elements, graphic and colour composition theory into the traditional China painting works, to make the works not only contain the unique elegant charm of Chinese traditional ink, but also have the dignified beauty of avant-garde and colourful Western art modeling.
He Ermin used the ink to create a mysterious black and white world and show the ancient, strange and ethereal cave to people. Each painting has its own meaning and the whole work is very orderly, teaching people to stay mannered and simple.
